MY PEN BLEEDS

Often I sit looking at my past
And the poems of light and laughter
That found a way into my heart,
And through this narrow way;
I found a way to keep my light
And snuff out my pain and plight.
Aye! Aye! Aye! Aye! Aye!
I found a way to keep my smile
And put to sleep
The memory of my plight
That the vision of my future bright
May gain hold in my mind.
And you ask me why my pen bleeds?
Ah! It must bleed and bleed still
Until the power of my truthful words
Ripple across the whole wide world
To find a way to the dear heart
Of a dear soul that dearly needs
The light only my dear words can bring.
