WAKING UP

I awoke to the silence of the day,
No sense of time or where I lay.
My eyes were groggy and weary,
And my body wants to return to sleep.

I awoke at the blare of the bell
As it woke me up from my dreams.
I yawn on the back of my palms
As I think about another priceless day.

My mood is as dark as the night,
My body reeks of sweat and is dirty,
My breath smells dry like dry weed,
Making me an unwelcome sight.

To take a step is to use all my might
As sleep fogs my steps and path.
I feel weak and tired like a slave
That has been walking for miles.
