FULL OF LIGHT

“Have you ever seen a bulb lighten the darkness of a room until it seems as if the darkness was never there?” I asked my friend, as we sat down in the sitting room of the house, sipping tea as the rain fell in torrents outside. The weather was mild and we made use of the cool atmosphere to the fullest.

“Yes”, he happily replied. “Light is needed to show the corrupt nature of darkness. The conscious and energy-driven strength that the presence of light awakens in you cannot be found in any other thing, it is needed for virtually everything”

And this awaken a memory long buried in the recess of my mind. I hope you enjoy it and seriously find it revealing:
It was a cloudy night. Everywhere was dark and there was no power supply to lighten my mood that night. I was just lying on my bed, meditating on things I have done and plans that I wish to bring to fruition when I heard a crash in the kitchen.

So, I went to check it out and don’t laugh! I was surprised to see my sister in the kitchen with what was left of a once whole plate in her hands and a terrified look on her face. I was also sure that the kitchen will soon be blazing with lights and the presence of the rest of the member of my family.

“What happened?” I asked her, and she started laughing. I was baffled until she told me of how she forgot to come to the kitchen with her torchlight and how she had unknowingly walked into the wall, thinking she was going the right way.

I draw close to her thanking God that she had not been injured, and also wondering how long it will take to clean up the broken pieces of plates and the pieces of food scattered all over the kitchen floor.
We did the cleaning of the kitchen that night and while escorting her back to the room, I thought back to that moment and how she would have felt walking into the kitchen thinking she was going the right way until she suddenly came in contact with solid wall.

And I remember the scripture that says God is light and in him is no darkness at all. And I have found out that this is true. God is light and everything he does is in alignment with his pure divine nature which was manifested in Jesus Christ. I realized also that darkness is not all about a color of an object or an environment, but darkness is the veil that makes us avoid the light thereby walking amiss. Yes! It is a wall that separates us from the presence of God.

So, I came to the conclusion that a life that is full of the light of God will be absence of the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life.

In God’s Love,
Okunola Peace.
