IF YOU HAVE ANY LIGHT TO SELL

The sun has smashed his jar of hot oil
And poured it over the earth with great joy,
Until the night, like a rumbling bard, announced
His intention of grim arrival
With his hue and crumbling shadow
Then did the merchants talk in a whisper;
You remember that mournful cry,
Of a virgin been deflowered?
Or the cutting sound that rings in our ears?
And the slashing of an invisible blade?
All was silent, but for a moment,
Then the gasping wind exclaimed,
Be silent, be gone,
For the grim king is almost here,
For he comes with his silent soldiers
That were born in a place of void,
Run before you hear darkness speaks,
For he comes not far behind me.
I am only a bearer of message,
But if you have any light to sell,
I will buy them,
For it is only through the light
That we can escape the paths of darkness.
Aye! Aye! Aye! Aye!
If you have any light to sell,
I will buy them,
For it is only through the light
That we can be free from the darkness.
