THE WAYS OF THE ANT

A small and tiny fellow
That lives in the earth's burrow;
Wingless, but with a sharp sting
Full of poison that could hurt a beast.

She has no earthly father,
Nor a princely ruler to guide her,
But when the season of summer comes,
She always have meat to feed upon.

She takes from the crumbs of men's plate
To her earthen home beneath the earth.
She does not rely on her feeble strength,
But applies the wisdom that brings result.

She knows that there is a time,
To eat and be merry,
And a season when the land will be dry,
And she needs to save for famine.

A woman of great discipline
Who knows the gain of rising early.
A great woman, wise and noble
Who is not afraid of life's obstacle.
