ROBBERS OF LIGHT

O! Robbers of light,

You have stolen the stars

And quenched the moon—

You have made the eagles shy

Of the beauties of the sky.

You have made the flowers dark,

And when we behold the trees,

Their leaves no longer shine,

But yellow, like lime.

Why O! Why? O robbers light?

Why have you stolen our light

And turned the seas red?

You waste the beauty of nature,

And leave us cold and dry.

Repent O! Repent,

Robbers that haunts my glory

Before I break the strings

That keeps your melody alive—

Repent O! Repent

Before you are remembered no more.
